SHRM-KC is lead by a team of volunteer leaders and an Executive Director who are passionate about the human resources profession and leadership. The board meets on a monthly basis, typically on the third Friday of each month at 7:30 am. The board is elected annually by the membership, typically during our November in-person annual meeting.

Volunteer Leadership Information

SHRM-KC Bylaws are the formal rules and regulations that govern the internal operations and management of our association. They outline the structure, roles, and responsibilities of the board of directors, officers, and members, as well as the procedures for meetings, elections, and decision-making. Bylaws provide clarity on how the association should function, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance in its activities. They are essential for guiding the organization’s leadership and protecting the rights of its members, and they can be amended as the association evolves.

SHRM-KC Committees are member groups that focus on various aspects of HR and organizational development. These committees offer members opportunities to engage in professional development, networking, and advocacy within the HR community. Common committees include those focused on professional development, workforce readiness, IEDB, membership engagement, and legislative affairs. By participating in these committees, members can contribute to advancing the HR profession, support chapter activities, and enhance their leadership skills.

Each year, SHRM of Greater Kansas City’s (SHRM-KC) Nominating Committee recommends a slate of candidates to serve on our Board of Directors. We encourage you to consider becoming a leader in an award-winning chapter of the largest organization of HR professionals in the Greater Kansas City Area.  Board applications open each year in August.
